Who you are

  • This role is ideal for someone who is deeply customer-obsessed, data-driven, and excited about building one of the most compelling propositions in the obesity treatment space
  • 7–10+ years of experience in strategy, operations, product, or growth, ideally in healthcare, consumer, or digital businesses
  • Proven experience launching or scaling customer-facing initiatives, with a bias toward action and ownership
  • Strong commercial acumen – you’re confident with pricing strategy, financial models, and defining performance metrics
  • Deep empathy for patients and passion for delivering exceptional, human-centred healthcare experiences
  • Experience running cross-functional initiatives across product, clinical, marketing, and legal teams
  • Familiarity with recent AI developments and their application to operational or care delivery improvements is a plus
  • Clear, structured communicator and analytical thinker who thrives in fast-paced environments

What the job involves

  • We are looking for a Senior Manager, Strategy & Operations - Obesity to take ownership of top priority initiatives in one of the most impactful categories in our business
  • This person will play a critical role in shaping and scaling our obesity offering - improving the patient journey, refining our commercial and product approach, and driving sustainable growth in this fast-evolving space
  • You will lead cross-functional initiatives across pricing strategy, product enhancements, commercial definition, and partnerships - all with a laser focus on improving the lives of our patients
  • Solve strategic problems: Use first-principles thinking to diagnose root causes and define bold solutions across the obesity category, from acquisition to long-term patient engagement
  • Customer obsession: Regularly engage with patients to understand their needs, pain points, and expectations. You will be the voice of the customer in every obesity-related initiative
  • Define and execute commercial strategy: Own pricing, margin, and commercial levers for the obesity business. Identify opportunities to increase LTV and improve patient outcomes
  • Drive product and feature improvements: Collaborate with product, clinical, and tech teams to define and ship enhancements that address patient feedback and drive measurable impact
  • Lead partnerships: Explore and deliver strategic partnerships to complement our obesity care pathway – including diagnostics, lifestyle support, or pharmacological innovations
  • Build with precision: Operate at both strategic and executional levels – from shaping category vision to owning implementation plans with high attention to detail
  • Instil operational excellence: Build scalable systems and processes that deliver high-quality, cost-efficient care at scale
  • Learn and iterate: Translate data into insights and rapidly act on learnings to improve our approach

Our take

MANUAL is a digital healthcare clinic supporting patients with life-changing conditions such as hormonal imbalance, obesity, menopause and hair loss across the UK and Brazil. It does this with a blend of doctor-specialist services, prescription medication backed by science, and digital products informed by behavioural change.

Manual works to remove the stigma around health problems such as obesity, hormone imbalances and menopause through teleconsultations, testing, regular check-ins and a range of tools, supplements and medications to treat common issues like poor sleep, hair loss, erectile dysfunction and skin conditions. Originally focused solely on men's health, the service led a shift in attitudes among its customers, with about half the men using the service to treat more than one condition, indicating that they're not just seeking help for the worst health issue that they're experiencing. Since, then it has opened its services to all genders with a hope to sift attitudes on a wider variety of health issues.

Manual has raised an impressive amount of capital, most recently in 2024. This funding is being used to expand its reach and enhance its services, particularly focussing on treatments for hormonal imbalance, obesity, and hair loss.
