Role
Who you are
- Commercial Experience (> 3 years) of modern testing practises and/or relevant industry experience
- Experience of 3D DCC applications, e.g. Modo, Blender, Maya, Houdini
- Experience of automated testing practices including python scripting
- Experience as a senior voice in task breakdown and estimation, proposing solutions for designs and issues within the teams work and has taken technical leadership on implementing some of them
- Experience of acting as the voice of the QA group, ensuring that stability and quality concerns are heard within the team
- Good interpersonal skills for effective in-team communication
- Experience of test and defect management systems, e.g. Target Process, Bugzilla, Jira
- Experience of multiple Operating Systems (Windows, OSX and Linux)
- Experience of relevant domain workflows, with a clear understanding of product, industry and how they relate to one another
- Experience in working in an Agile/Scrum Environment
What the job involves
- You'll work on testing bug fixes and new features as part of one of our Agile teams, working on our DCC application Modo
- You will drive the team's testing efforts by conducting black box testing of in-development features and bug fixes, where you will verify workflows and correctness of the work products, and ensure the quality of the released product
- You will play a significant part in the Agile process, where you will contribute to the requirements definition for the work packages, task breakdowns and estimation within your SCRUM team
- Primarily this will be a manual testing role, but there is some scope to also do some automated tests, using Python
- You'll help others on your team with this process, developing their knowledge and expertise to perform these tasks, also acting as a go-to person to resolve complex issues. You will be the voice for quality across the whole process, from breakdown and estimation through to release
- Tests new features and maintenance fixes, completes pre-release checks and workflow testing
- Produces well-structured, documented and maintainable test cases and plans
- Conduct manual testing including functional, workflow, and regression testing
- A go-to person to get difficult issues resolved, e.g. input as to what customers are doing or likely causes of issues and customer workflow queries
- Contributes to documentation and maintains testing infrastructure, owning some areas
- Estimation on work tasks to enable go/no-go decisions, including second opinions on risky work, or helping break down the risk factors in release decisions
- Collaborate with other Senior QA Engineers to design/improve testing workflows and processes
- Taking responsibility and organisational leadership of QA-related work in relation to your scrum team
- Assisting the Lead Engineer / QA Lead in coordinating releases and release testing as well as assisting in estimating QA testing effort required for future feature work and tasks
- When required, create user stories for future work, assigning test plans and other work to the rest of the QA team
- Acting together with other Senior QA team members to manage Lead responsibilities during the time of Leads absence
