What the job involves

  • We’re looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join the retention team and work towards achieving its goal to increase the profitability of our existing customer base
  • As a product led tech company, this is a chance for an analyst to make an impact in how we shape the customer mobile experience, as well as maximise all revenue gained from fees and mid-policy services, or lost through cancellations during a policy
  • Enable key decision making for the Retention team, analysing overall revenue gained from fees and mid-policy services, or lost through cancellations during a policy
  • Share insights about the cancellation digital experience, operational cancellation conversation experience, the mid term adjustment (MTA) experience, MTA retail pricing, and fees like “Retained Refunds” and MTA Fees
  • Construct a story from this analysis to deliver clear, concise messaging to influence process decisions being made and optimise outcomes at all stakeholder levels
  • Support the development and delivery of key strategies as signed off by the senior leadership team and stakeholders, and contribute suggestions on content to be included, as well as own ideas on future strategies
  • Ensure our renewals and cancellations data models have high quality, integrity and are well documented
  • Ensure the retention data is ready for self-serve in Looker
  • Working closely with senior management within Retention and Pricing, confidently presenting findings and telling engaging stories through data

Application process

  • Initial call with Luke Watts our our TA partner (45 mins)
  • A skill-based interview where you will with our head of analytics (45 minutes)
  • A technical interview including a live case study (no homework!) with one of our data scientists (60 mins)
  • A culture interview with one of our analytics stakeholders (1 hour)
  • We’ll let you know if you’re invited to an interview or not. But, as a small team with a lot of applications to consider, we can’t give personal feedback on each application

Otta's take

For many ordinary people, insurance can be inaccessibly expensive. Marshmallow solves this problem by using data and technology to offer fairer coverage for car and van owners.

Car insurers generally quotes drivers according to population data, and many drivers are overcharged due to age and demographic. By leveraging data and proprietary technology, Marshmallow can offer more accurate and personalised quotes delivered in minutes, meaning lower fees for drivers. Naturally, this approach has proven popular, with Marshmallow garnering impressive reviews and accolades since it first launched.

The insurtech space is becoming increasingly competitive, and more and more tech companies are moving into the car insurance space, so the company is currently looking to expand into other insurance areas. Marshmallow’s unicorn status is a clear indicator of the company’s ongoing success and scalability, and will help to facilitate this diversification.

For now, the company is focused on helping those outside the norm, such as those who have uprooted their lives and moved to the UK. But in the future, it hopes to expand to any group of people who are unfairly marginalised and whose problems Marshmallow is uniquely positioned to solve.
