Who you are

  • 8+ years of marketing and/or brand strategy experience in a consumer, retail company, e-commerce brand and/or creative agency
  • Proven experience achieving business objectives and working within a complex environment to hit deadlines
  • Self-starter with an ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment and meet changing deadlines and priorities on multiple simultaneous projects. Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines while still paying attention to details and executing flawlessly
  • Results-driven, focused, and analytical. Outstanding follow-up, organization, and time management skills
  • Deeply quantitative and analytical. The ideal candidate loves data and is able to analyze a problem, use data to articulate a recommendation, and take action accordingly
  • Strong consumer insights and an understanding of how and why consumers use Minted products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excited to work in a collaborative team environment. A successful history of working cross-functionally to influence others and execute projects
  • A deep appreciation for design and its power to enrich people’s lives
  • BA or equivalent is required. MBA or advanced degree is highly desired

What the job involves

  • The Senior Brand Manager is responsible for defining and executing Minted's brand and integrated marketing each season
  • They shape brand marketing decisions, develop integrated marketing plans, define content strategies, and articulate core positioning to inspire exceptional and effective creative work
  • This person is consumer-obsessed, has a pulse on cultural trends, and understands how to drive reach and relevancy with Minted’s core demo
  • They are equal parts strategic, creative, and operational – understanding how to champion complex programs with cross-functional team members
  • Above all, they are inspired by the potential of making design more widely accessible
  • Develop the seasonal brand strategy to meet our brand, consumer, and company goals
  • Build the seasonal marketing calendar with brand managers and category management, including product launches, cultural moments, promo events, etc
  • Lead all partnership & cross-category initiatives, including strategy, briefing, program management, execution, and hindsight. This includes brands, wholesale partners, and talent
  • Lead all content strategy plans, including campaigns, content creators, licensed content
  • Manage relationships with external partners, including agency/partner selection, contract and pricing negotiation, and performance management
  • Partner with the marketing team to bring seasonal strategy to life across paid, owned, and earned channels. Develop strategies for key awareness-building channels, including TV, digital/print advertising, activations, events, and partnerships
  • Collaborate with category teams to create and execute marketing strategies that support product launches and lifecycle management. Develop positioning and messaging that highlights product value, features, and benefits tailored to target customer segments
  • Develop inspiring creative briefs based on a deep understanding of Minted's business, the competitive landscape, the cultural environment, and the target consumer

Our take

Minted is a design marketplace, sourcing creative content from a global community of artists, using technology and crowdsourcing to give consumers access to independent creatives unavailable through traditional retailers.

With the success of sites like Etsy enabling consumers to buy direct from artisans, Minted sets itself apart by holding monthly art and design challenges which are open for both submission and voting. The ‘crowd’ curates Minted’s product selection by rating products, and Minted utilizes analytics to evaluate votes. The winning designs go into production which is taken care of by Minted's fulfillment house and the designers receive a 6%-10% cut of the sales.

Its unique ‘design by upvoting’ business model has led to almost $300m in funding, with backing from Benchmark Capital and IDG Ventures. As contests draw in more designers, the company is looking to expand beyond Minted.com and into physical retail, finding new ways to use the designs and creating fresh income streams for themselves and their artists.
