Who you are

  • The right person for this role is passionate about coaching and career development for early in career full-cycle sellers, excited about new logo acquisition across high-growth startups and SMBs, and experience driving scaled customer expansion motions
  • Have 5+ years of quota carrying sales experience selling to Mid-Market and/or Enterprise Accounts or 3+ years of direct sales leadership experience
  • Maintain a proven record of consistently exceeding quotas
  • Are strategic enough to build a team, but tactical enough to execute on a day-to-day basis
  • Are proficient in modern sales processes/methodologies
  • You have proven experience in hiring, training, and retaining high performing AEs across Growth/SMB roles

What the job involves

  • Twilio Segment is looking for a Leader to run one of our Growth Segment sales organizations
  • The candidate will be responsible for leading a team of Segment AEs that will drive opportunities through the entire sales cycle from discovery to close, employing a solution-oriented sales methodology with a focus on use cases spanning customer data and marketing activation
  • Responsibilities include managing a team of AEs driving the sales process from internal leads as well as prospecting new business prospects and managing these deals to close
  • Additional responsibilities will include the execution of GTM strategies in the region in close collaboration with the Sales RVP and respective marketing and sales engineering teams
  • Help develop and execute strategy for growth of our sales team
  • Recruit, develop and enable a team of account executives
  • Oversee and ensure successful execution of high velocity and strategic sales cycles
  • Engage at the executive level with a range of companies from venture backed high growth technology companies to strategic Growth companies looking to modernize their marketing and analytics tech stacks
  • Motivate individuals and team to exceed targets through coaching and mentorship
  • Accurately forecast the business monthly and quarterly
  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals

Traditionally, it has been difficult for businesses to establish communications systems in-house. Twilio was founded from frustration with this expensive and cumbersome process, providing easy-to-use APIs to let businesses send and receive telephone and text communications.

From these beginnings, the company has expanded through acquisitions and product development to provide a suite of services around market data and customer engagement. It is now a market leader in this space, and has developed a customer base of more than 150,000 businesses including enterprise brands such as Deliveroo, Duolingo and Toyota.

With that said, aggressive expansion and lack of maturity in some of its products has impacted the company's efficiency, and like many of its peers it has been forced to restructure heavily to remain competitive. Coming out of this restructuring, the company will focus on profitability, streamlining decision making and R&D to put itself in good stead for future success.
