Role

Who you are

  • 5+ years of experience in financial control, accounting or similar
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and formulas (SQL and Python skills are a plus)
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and prioritise effectively
  • Excellent stakeholder management, relationship building skills, with the ability to influence change
  • Analytical skills to drive process improvements and automations
  • Collaborative mindset, proactively seeking input from the wider Finance team and other business stakeholders

  • You have the ability to step out of the details to perform high-level analysis, and sense-check the overall reasonability of the numbers
  • Experience in Financial Services or Tech industries is a plus

What the job involves

  • Adyen is looking for a dedicated Product Financial Controller to join the expanding Product Financial Controlling team in Amsterdam
  • This key role within the Group Finance function involves taking ownership of the financial controlling for either our Payments Platform or Banking Platform
  • The ideal candidate will be driven to understand the business behind the numbers, and will use this insight to inform and advise their stakeholders
  • You will collaborate closely with product teams, including participating in the development of new products and building new accounting flows for these products
  • Your responsibilities will extend to contributing to financial process optimisation

  • Collaborate with Product, Operational Finance, Reporting, and Statutory Financial Controlling teams regarding the Payments and Banking Platforms
  • Perform month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and report financial results
  • Manage the audit process for your scope of work
  • Conduct deep dives into the Platform(s) to understand the underlying business activity driving the financial figures
  • Contribute to variance analysis and analytical reviews during the month-end close
  • Identify and implement opportunities to optimize and automate financial processes, in collaboration with Finance Developers and Data Analysts
  • Partner with Product teams and Finance Developers to build accounting flows for new products, ensuring seamless integration into financial processes
  • Contribute to the internal control framework (risk assessments and control implementation)

Disrupters in the field have been buoyed by a strong rise in eCommerce activity, where some or all of a transaction by a customer is made either online or by mobile.

Adyen has been one of the companies riding the wave by helping to reduce the friction between a company choosing to take payments online, and actually being able to do it. That can take multiple steps and agreements across numerous countries — Adyen’s pitch is that it essentially handles all of it in the backend as a service for its users. Notable partners have included Autocanteen, a touchless self-checkout solution for the hospitality industry, and BILL, a small business-focused fintech platform.
