Role
Who you are
- Experience building high performance, distributed systems as a Senior Engineer
- Experience working with system design and architecture
- Experience leading projects and builds
- Experience of driving and using modern development practices such as BDD and TDD would be highly advantageous
- Passion for beautiful, well tested code
- In-depth understanding of the entire development process (design, development and deployment)
- Ability to mentor and support less experienced engineers
- Highly motivated self-starter who values autonomy and getting things done
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
What the job involves
- Designing and implementing highly secure, fault tolerant APIs
- Creating our next generation developer framework and workflows, allowing both merchants and third-parties to integrate as seamlessly as possible
- Working in close collaboration with infrastructure and frontend teams
- Taking ownership of key technology decisions, building for scale and optimising for output
- Conducting code reviews and continuously look at ways of improving our ways of working
- Developing deep payments expertise, always looking for ways to optimise our merchant developer experience
- Creating detailed internal documentation for the projects you work on

By incorporating a unified API, Primer provides access to any 3rd party services that users wish to integrate, ranging from digital wallets and mobile payments, to Buy Now Pay Later and crypto. It currently operates across around 20 countries, with mostly midmarket customers such as Voi, Freddie’s Flowers and Parkopedia.
Its platform has significant implications for the future of eCommerce and payments, which is a huge global industry, so Primer's future in the market could be interesting to watch as it develops. The company has made a number of impressive partnerships with the likes of Coinbase, Zimpler, and Monoova, to deliver enhanced utility to its clients.
