Cord is 100% a tech start-up and the work that we have to do here is challenging in all the fun ways. As a startup there is not as much there as at a big tech company so we need to find our own solutions. As a small startup it means we sometimes need to be creative.

From week 1 I felt like my opinions and prior experience was valued at Cord. From the first week I could impact the decisions that were being made, and people appreciated my input. Especially when it came to diverse opinions

Everything at Cord is very transparent. As a small start-up communicating with everyone is possible, and people bring their honest opinions into meetings. Probably because we feel safe doing so.

Cord is full of people I actually want to talk to and spend time with. There's no egos and no agendas — it makes coming to work and doing great work so much easier and more enjoyable!

Cord's culture is respectful of people's time and life outside work. The founders understand that happy employees have lives, and take an accommodating and trusting approach. It's a parent-friendly organisation too :)

I'm working on a new category with no direct competitors. There are tons of complex user-facing problems to solve, and none of them are familiar to me. The challenges mean I'm already listed as an author on a handful of patents!

We're building a totally new concept of how to turn single-player tools into multi-player, which requires cutting edge engineering and product/design work on making collaboration smooth, seamless and performant in any other product.

Our team composition speaks for itself. Across all levels and roles, we've always been blind to people's background and actively seeking and encouraging participation from across the board.

In addition to a generally open culture, where all documents on all aspects of the business are open to everyone, the team meets together to discuss everything candidly on a weekly basis. The founders regularly have 1:1s with all employees, and we have open, no-BS discussions about strategy, successes and challenges, culture and everything else. Even board discussions and decks are shared, and everyone gets to learn, and contribute to, how to build a startup.

My colleges are all super smart. So many experts in so many areas. ex Google, Facebook, Amazon, Palantir, Adobe to name a few. I'm always kept on my toes and continuously learning.

With the CTO being the first engineer for Facebook London and building a team of 450 engineers around him and our CEO having advised for some of the most exciting start-ups they really know how to hire, support and encourage professional growth. External mentors are offered where needed getting to work with idols in my space. They truly care about their people.

The way in which computing evolved led us to find ourselves working across different, single-player web-based tools, and communicating in a separate 'destination' like email or Slack. We're building a better way to collaborate at a time when its needed most.
