Who you are

  • Highly analytical with a strong knowledge of data/data science/machine learning and its various frameworks
  • An advocate and champion for all things data, evangelising about the tools we have available
  • Experience in understanding customer profiles and segmentation of a global consumer brand at scale

What the job involves

  • Hiring and developing a great team of data and analytics engineers, data scientists and data analysts
  • Conduct regular 1-2-1s to ensure your direct reports are motivated, happy and engaged
  • Manage concurrent projects across Data Science, Analytics, Customer Insights and Data Engineering
  • Presenting complex information to technical and non-technical audiences in an accessible and concise way, providing clear recommendations that will optimise performance
  • Collaborating closely with your colleagues and peers across all disciplines of the business in shaping strategy and validating new data supported initiatives
  • Leveraging data and analytics to inform global decisions on customer acquisition, retention, operations and expansion
  • Developing and implement comprehensive market and customer research tools and strategies that enable quantitative and qualitative data to be transformed into valuable, accessible, and rich business insights
  • Using customer segmentation insight to understand our customers behaviour better, understanding why and how they shop with Beauty Pie
  • Improving our hiring and recruitment processes
  • Promote an agile, collaborative way of working cross-functionally, in order to drive performance
  • Investing in our overall platform architecture
  • Ensuring the business can support an effective hybrid first working culture which scales
  • Develop and drive the data vision and strategy that supports the overall business strategy. Work closely with other departments to understand business goals and help identify technical solutions that support those goals
  • Demonstrating operational responsibility for Beauty Pieโ€™s Production data platforms including incident management and communication with all stakeholders

Dubbed as the โ€˜Netflix for make-upโ€™, the industry-disruptive Beauty Pie provides subscription-based access to discounted cosmetic products including make-up, skincare, candles and perfume. Since its unveiling in Vogue magazine in 2017, Beauty Pie has gone on to be very successful with tens of thousands of members.

Through her experience in the beauty industry, founder Marcia Kilgore felt uncomfortable with selling cosmetic products for vastly marked-up prices within traditional retailers. Beauty Pie was founded to challenge this status quo. Members purchase a subscription for access to lower-priced products. With each membership comes a spending limit, to ensure fair access to all members.

The USP of Beauty Pie is its transparent pricing, with its members knowing exactly what their money is paying for. Members pay for the factory costs, materials and testing for products. Beauty Pie achieves the lower prices by cutting out the middleman and bypassing costs such as celebrity endorsements and brick and mortar stores, saving on expenses which are ordinarily passed along to consumers.

There has been a growing appetite for affordable quality cosmetic products as can be seen by the popularity of brands such as The Ordinary for skin care and Revolution for make up. But Beauty Pie offers a wider range of products that can better adapt to customers purchasing habits. It is also somewhat less utilitarian in its approach than its competitors, providing a luxury, boutique experience for its members despite the lower price tag.
